I’ve been to a lot of car shows and if I had to pick an all time favorite, it would definitely be The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering. The Quail takes place in Carmel during Monterey Car Week and includes a wide variety of classic cars, one-off race cars, and high end exotics spread out across the golf course next to the Quail Lodge.
The place gets so packed with exotic cars that the parking lot is a show in itself. Just walking through the parking lot we saw 4 Bugatti Veyrons, a Porsche Carrera GT, and countless McLarens, Ferraris, and Lamborghinis. As we entered the show my eyes were immediately drawn towards the 6 Bugatti Veyron Legend editions that were on display. As I walked around a little more I almost got overwhelmed because there were so many amazing cars to check out. One of my favorite parts was the Pagani section that was showing off 4 Pagani Huayras and a Zonda F. Nearby was part of David Lee’s Ferrari collection consisting of a 288 GTO, Evoluzione, F40, F50, and Enzo.
As the show winded down the cars started their engines and made their way towards the exit. Hearing some of these cars running was pretty remarkable and something most people will never get to experience. The Maserati MC12 Corsa was one of the loudest and thankfully for us the owner was nice enough to park it in a field and let us take pictures.
If you’re fortunate enough to visit Monterey Car Week then be sure to check out The Quail… it’s definitely a show you don’t want to miss!
